How can I stop the black window after screensaver on Mac?

After moving the mouse, to exit the screensaver and use the computer (usually if the computer has been in screensaver mode for several hours) a black window briefly appears in the same location on the screen. It disappears after a few seconds.

Where can I find the source of this black window to fix this screensaver issue?

leroydouglas,

Thank you! I appreciate your help. Sorry it took a few days to resolve the issue—but we did it. Even in Safe Boot, the problem persisted, which told me an app might be the cause. I reviewed the apps running at startup and began narrowing things down. I deleted anything unnecessary from the "Open at Login" list and then disabled each remaining app one by one, testing to reproduce the issue.

Success: I found the culprit.

I had installed the Logi Options+ app to customize function keys and mouse buttons for use as shortcuts in Chief Architect. Since Logi Options+ requires an internet connection, I reached out to Logitech to see if there was an offline version. They said no.

After intense research, I found it:

Logitech Options Offline Installer

This is what I’m now using. Once I disabled, the black window issue disappeared.

I'll be contacting Logitech to report this bug. I prefer the offline version because when the internet goes out, the programmed buttons otherwise stop working.

Thanks again!

Have not seen this before posted as an issue here...

Glitches like these are hard to pinpoint..let alone resolve with confidence.

You can try A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support to sort anomalies

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

no resolve—

To be proactive you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

—You can always try changing the screensaver to something else and compare your results

— you can try reinstalling the macOS on top of the existing macOS
