How can I recover my lost photos on iPhone 16 Pro?

So i recently got a Iphone 16 Pro and completed all the data transfer stuff that they prompt you when you get a new phone. After the setup, i check my photos because it has important photos from 10 years ago as well as photos i need for work. I made sure that its all there which it was. Then i started to factory reset my old phone. The next morning most of the photos on my new phone suddenly disappeared saying there was only 7 photos stored on icloud. What happened and what do i do?

It almost sounds as if you went and manually deleted photos from the old phone while it was still synchronized with iCloud.

If you did do a manual deletion, but did not compound the mistake by going into the Recently Deleted album, and deleting the photos from there, or waiting 30+ days, you could go into the Recently Deleted album (on the new phone, which I take it is using iCloud Photos) to restore photos. If they are not there, they are gone, unless you have copies somewhere else you haven't told us about.

Transferring to a New iPhone:

Just curious: Did you transfer using Quick Start?: Use Quick Start to Transfer Data to a New iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. Of not, reset your new iPhone to factory settings, and then perform Quick Start transfer.
