How do I add my wife's profile to my Apple TV+ account?

It is so easy to add a profile in Amazon, Netflix, etc., but in AppleTV+ I get nowhere. What am I doing wrong?

To share an Apple TV+ subscription with family members, one should form a Family Sharing group, where several Apple Accounts can share certain services. Each user should have their own Apple Account.

Setting up a Family Sharing group has to be done on an Apple device (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac).

One user in the group would take on the role of Organizer, and invites the other prospect group members, each by their own Apple ID account. Have them each create an account, if they do not have one yet. This inviting should be done on the organizer’s iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. The people that receive this invitation then choose to accept or decline. That’s it, then the Family Sharing group is established, and then the shareable subscription content will be available to all group members. Then each of the members get access through their own account; without the subscription account credentials themselves being shared. The subscriber and the organizer do not have to be the same person.

To share a qualifying subscription, the ‘Share Purchases’ option does not need to be active. That is instead for buy-content, and one central paying family member for the whole group. How to share apps and purchases with your family - Apple Support

Apple TV uses Apple Accounts to separate users, not profiles, there is no specific section for profiles.

You may be able to add her Apple Account in Settings, and she can the select it by switching the account there too. Not sure if its available on the Apple TV+ app (different from the regular Apple TV app) on smart TVs though.

Family sharing is pretty simple and straight forward. Not understanding something is not the same thing as it being complicated.

If you choose to have everyone use your account, then yes, it will be pretty messy, hence Family sharing, so it's not messy and every user gets their own view and separate watch lists.

I suggest you look into Family Sharing before writing it off entirely.

I never buy an Android device because I find them completely impossible to use. To you they may be very easy. The difference is what you take the time to learn to use and understand.

Good grief! No wonder that I never buy any Apple device! Therefore, I can't add any more profiles. They could complicate a bingo game. The funny thing is that they started with their first computer OS as being known to be User Friendly. So, everyone in the family will just have to pile onto my account. I'm sure it will become a complete mess.

I have subscriptions to many streaming services, and none of them is as user unfriendly as AppleTV+.

Thank you all for replying with good advice!
