First check if you have backed up your data in Time Machine or iCloud. If yes, it is easy to recover the lost and deleted data. If no, try data recovery software, like cisdem. It has a good chance of recovering lost data, but you may have to pay to restore the found data to your Mac. So it's up to you.

Time Machine is what Apple provides for backups.

Data recovery software tends to run afoul of both data encryption, and of how SSD storage fundamentally works. On older hard disks with no encryption, probably. On newer storage, I would not hold out much hope, absent backups, or some other issue such as an iCloud Drive glitch.

Recovering Lost Data:

There are storage location to check for data. And many of these locations are based on the file type (i.e. Photos). Loss of data is something you would have agreed to upon opening an Apple Account. So, if the following does not work, then they are gone. That's just the way it is :( See the following, in relevance to recovering data...

Troubleshooting Lost Data:

Use Migration Assitant:

Did you backup your Mac, recently? If so, then restore your Mac from that. You'd backup you Mac prior to doing so, and then restore your data from the backup you just created, through use of Migration Assistant.

There Other Tactics to Try:

A. Start here: If you're Missing Photos or Videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

B. Check iCloud Directly:

See if they reside in iCloud Photos. Log in here: https://www.icloud.com/photos

C. Where Else to Check:

  • PC
  • PDA
  • eMail
  • Mac Device
  • Cloud Storage
  • Android Phone
  • USB Flash Drive
  • External Hard drive
  • Secure Digital Card
  • Compact Flash Card
