How can I stop the camera from auto-centering during video calls on Mac and iPad?

How can I stop the camera from readjusting my image while in FaceTime (and Zoom) on iPad Pro and MacBook Pro? I assume the camera is trying to center my head, but it’s disorienting and a little nauseating. I’d just like a normal capture of my head without zoom or moving about.

You have encountered the Centre Stage feature. Centre Stage is only enabled for Apps that support it.

Centre Stage settings are accessed from the Control Centre whilst a supported App (such as FaceTime) is running. Swipe downwards from top-right of the screen:

Third-party Apps, that support Centre Stage (e.g., Zoom and Webex) may have settings within the individual App.
