My HP Printer wont scan with the Sequioa upgrade.

My HP 7200 printers scan function is not working correctly ever since I upgraded to Sequoia. I have read that this is a common or known problem. My question is, has there been a fix to this known issue. This is why I hate upgrading to a new OS because something that was working just fine, now no longer works.

Here are some things to consider which may be useful. Scanners require scanning software which is different from installing a printer driver. Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant scanner software must be installed for the scanner. What you can do is to thoroughly check the HP's web site for updated compliant software that works with your computer's OS. If none is available, then you should ask when it will be released. If that doesn't work, you can try scanning using Apple's Image Capture app. It will scan, but is not full featured. Another alternative is to download and try the full featured scanner software from VueScan. You can try it for free. It will show a watermark until you purchase it. I bought it and can recommend it. I have no association with VueScan. Good luck.

  • Are you using HP Drivers or AirPrint?
  • If using HP Drivers/Software, have you checked if Network access has been granted at  > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network?

AirPrint is used to eliminate the need for device manufacturers to update the drivers and you will find that most printer manufacturers no longer update their drivers, since the AirPrint protocol eliminates the need of needing those drivers and remain compatible across OS updates.
