Unable to log into my Apple Account that keeps asking to re-enter password

My original phone, 6 plus, was fine. then it started doing this. I recently upgraded to 16e, transferred everything over and the problem is still here.

things i have tried:

  1. i have restarted
  2. deleted vpn
  3. logged out of icloud
  4. logged out of account then back in. And it immediately asked for the password, twice.
  5. ran an antivirus

im not using a screen lock, no 2 form authentication, and no face id.

It is very aggravating to input the password then 2 seconds later it asks for the password again.

If this is an email password prompt for a mail-related mail server account, remove and re-add the email account.

It’s also possible the add-on security apps are causing issues among themselves, or with the built-in anti-malware. Remove all the add-on security apps, and restart. (Add-on anti-malware cannot scan the file contents of your iPhone, too. That’s blocked by the built-in anti-malware. Best it does is tie into networking path, and this whole sequence could well be a problem somewhere in the network path.)

Once you get this working again, consider getting two-factor authentication enabled, get a recovery number or account recovery contact configured, and get Face ID going, and probably also pick a new and more robust passcode given it won’t need to be entered as often. Why? Add-on anti-malware apps and add-on “coffee shop” VPN apps can be suspect, and no two factor authentication means this whole configuration is unfortunately also vulnerable to phishing exploits.
