How to sort files in ascending or descending order in Finder's icon view on macOS Sequoia?

Hello Community,

I’m new to macOS and I’m struggling to find the “Sort by” option in the Finder icon view to sort files in ascending or descending order. While the option is available in the Finder list view, I can’t seem to find it in any other view, including the icon view. Is there a hidden option I’m missing? If so, could you please advise on how to enable it?

Thanks in advance.

In Icon View, you can only sort ascending. You can choose that in the View Options or by holding down the Option key and pressing the Group/Sort button in the toolbar. Without the Option key, you get grouping options.
