Recently Apple blocked my number from iMessage and FaceTime without warning due to reported spam. Even though I am supposed to be able to reply on SMS, I am still having issues with messages not sending or receiving and it has created an undue hardship.
To be permanently blocked from iMessage and FaceTime, without a warning or a chance to respond, is deeply troubling.
I was given no notice or opportunity to address the situation before losing access. The lack of transparency or due process in blocking a personal number raises serious concerns from a consumer protection standpoint, since users are entitled to clear notice and a fair opportunity to remedy issues before being cut off from essential communication tools. I have now reported this to the FCC and sought legal advice.
Apple suggested I open a business account, but that doesn’t solve my problem. Seems like a dirty tactic. I don’t need business messaging, I just need my personal number restored so I can communicate with my family. I have requested clarification on what policies justify permanently blocking a personal number without warning or a chance to appeal, as this outcome undermines my ability to maintain essential personal communications as a loyal and paying Apple customer.
After multiple chats and phone calls with Apple support, I do hope they take this feedback more seriously and consider giving warnings before permanently disabling features on their phones. Without iMessaging or FaceTime and without their willingness to so what is right, what incentive to I have to continue my loyalty to them? And that of my family?
