Facing 'Request is blocked' error while visiting a website on Mac running macOS Sequoia

I set Arc browser as my new default a few days back. In trying to reach a familiar, often used website, I got this instead: Request is Blocked.

I tried another browser (Safari, which was my default for years): same error. Ditto for Brave, Orion, and Ffox!

It's as if some system wide block is in effect, but not from my side at all (at least knowingly).

I quit Arc, changed to Firefox as my default (Safari just not measuring up, slow, etc. is why I left it, brand new MBP) rebooted, same result.

Just tried on iPad: same result, two different browsers.

Site is StandardProcess.com. Help!

when I click f12 to open the browser dev log console it shows this when trying to access

GET https://www.standardprocess.com/ 403 (Forbidden)

[NEW] Explain Console errors by using Copilot in Edge: click

to explain an error.

/favicon.ico:1

GET https://www.standardprocess.com/favicon.ico 403 (Forbidden)

this is what copilot say about it

The error message GET https://www.standardprocess.com/ 403 (Forbidden) indicates that the request to access the webpage was denied by the server. A 403 Forbidden error usually means that the server understands the request but refuses to authorize it. Here are some possible reasons for this error:

  1. Access Restrictions: The website might have security measures in place that restrict access based on region, IP address, or authentication.
  2. Permissions Issue: The server might be configured to block certain types of requests, such as automated requests from bots or unverified users.
  3. Blocked by Firewall or Security Software: Some websites use firewalls to prevent unauthorized access, and your request might have been flagged.
  4. Incorrect URL or Headers: If the request is missing necessary headers (such as authentication tokens), the server might reject it.
  5. Server Issues: The website itself might be down or experiencing issues that prevent normal access.

How to Fix It:

  • Check Access Permissions: If the website requires authentication, ensure you are logged in.
  • Clear Browser Cache & Cookies: Sometimes, stored data can interfere with access.
  • Try a Different Network or VPN: If access is blocked based on location or IP, switching networks or using a VPN might help.
  • Disable Extensions: Some browser extensions can interfere with site access. Try disabling them and refreshing the page.
  • Contact Website Support: If the issue persists, reaching out to the website administrators could provide more insight.

Since the webpage is currently blocked with a "Service unavailable" message, the issue could be temporary. Try accessing it again later and see if the error resolves on its own. Hope that helps!

Yes, good catch. It had a long string of metadata attached, so it was recognizable as me responding with a click.

And my local router/network guy said it's gotta be an issue on their side, as he bypassed our wifi and tried to open the generic link himself and it failed.

Since no response to date from the company, I'll just hang on to their marketing emails and alerts to patients requesting access to products, and that'll be my work around until they fix their site.

Thanks for all your input. It's been helpful.

No, as I pointed out above, a specific link from an email worked to get me in. No VPN, obviously IP from India.

My final thought before I go. Several of the people who are blocked are not in the U.S. The link you received may bypass whatever restrictions they have set up. In any case, it doesn't seem to be a Mac or settings problem. Good Luck.
