PowerPoint videos are lagging after macOS 15.5 Sequoia upgrade

Update to a problem that had been solved and now is re-occuring after upgrade to Sequoia 15.5: After upgrading on Mac pro M3 to sequoia (latest version installed) my Mac Powerpoint Version 16.97 (25051114) has problems to play short looped .mp4 video files. After playing them for 1-2 loops it is running them not properly, it looks as if some frames are missing and it is not smooth running, like jerk. Looks like it would be played on an old computer with not enough memory or graphic power. As I give lectures my only solution so far is to play it using parallels and using the Microsoft Powerpoint, but that is not an overall solution.

I had reported this problem before with 15.4 - and with an update of sequoia it was okay - now after update to 15.5 the same problem appears. I know that same had happened to two other Mac owners after updating. I hope Apple will fix it again - but I am disappointed that now after each update you have to worry that your loops are not running anymore....

Sequoia 15.6 DID NOT fix it -- shame on your Apple. Neither did the latest PPT updated.

I will beta test the nexts version of iOS and see what happens.

For now, what I do is take the video, put it into iMovie -- copy and paste the repeating segments (depending on the video adding a transition works and help the rest that shows when it's working normally), handbrake that video. Then when I go to present I have a library of those slides (elongated) and then I sub that in the the presentation version only since it adds so much space. That way when they fix it I won't have to retrofit stuff, BUT you always have a library for when the break it :( again.

to manage this at the moment you have some options, all not good though:

convert your slides to keynote - one of my friends did that for all his lectures.

2.) I also have parallels and another windows PP there: here it works without problems, but not a solution for everybody.

Alone in our department I have 10 Mac users that are complaining about the same problem!

This is SAD --- literally redid the same bug (well perhaps I don't know that) but issue form Sequoia .. 15.01 solved in 15.1 that I posted in October 2024 (sequoia powerpoint looped video problems - Apple Community)

I come from a dev lab. The amount of work to do on this is enormous, I just spent 4 hours, and expanded my PPT size by 80%+ because I have to do videos now in iMovie that are way longer but copying and pasting the same clip so I don't use loop vs savings in PPT; yes I handbrake them but BRUTAL.

A VERY VERY sad day for Apple. I can live with the botched AI on my iPhone --- but this is brutal.

I don’t quite follow your tone. If you read my linked post and comment above, you’ll have seen that this was Sequoia related. But perhaps because I put not helpful on the response. Apologies. Not personal. But that’s standard 1st line support responses.

But this response has nothing to do with the realm of helping anyway.

But I’ll answer you since I answer any question. Having worked in a development lab for 15 or so years… when we find something, we create a test bucket for it. Then we run it. This is a pretty important feature when you consider the space savings bloat. I assumed in their CI/CD pipelines that they would’ve put that regression buck in the pull request. The number one rule in development is don’t break things you already fixed.

This is shoddy development. That said … look at crowd strike.

I guess I had more trust in that they know what they are doing. They do for usability and features that try to appeal to some people I guess, but Apple still completely misses enterprise hardening.

Fool me once … so I will take the egg on my face for trusting a dev team that’s more on lipstick then fattening the pig.
