Apple Watch battery draining fast after watch OS 11.5 update

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Apple watch SE, only 1 month old. Battery percentage 100%.

Updated to 11.5 overnight last night, battery was at 100% at 7am this morning (UK time) and now, at 17:00 UK time, battery is down to 32%.

Haven't done anything with my watch, just been sat at my desk working.

Battery used to last me at least 24 hours but 11.5 seems to be sucking the life out of it!

Ok - After hitting final frustration yesterday I have Repowered both devices (Watch 9 and phone), reset sync data and unpaired and repaired the watch. It looks like maybe thats done it. For people saying it takes 24 hours I have an iphone 15 pro with 62GB free, an Apple Watch 9 with 53 of 64GB free (Very few apps) so there is no way it should have taken DAYS to finish synching. I did track my sleep on the 25th so I'm picking I did the update that morning when back on charge (Sunday) and by Tuesday it was still running ridiculously down on battery life so it had all of Sunday, 24 hours of Monday and into the day Tuesday and wasn't "completed". Apple needs to improve the update experience as we shouldn't have to jump through random hoops hoping one of them will fix an unknown issue. Today after yesterdays restarts, repairing etc my watch is on 93% after getting it off the charger 2.5 hours ago which seems about right.

So basically if you are having this issue - Full power off and back on the watch, likewise phone, unpair and repair the watch from your phone. This is easy and restores your last backup which is run when you unpair I think (Certainly it was last run a short time ago). Hopefully that'll see your battery behaving again.

So I found out how to find when the update was done. It was the 17th of May so it had 10 full days to

catch up with completing the update, synching and indexing. All of that talk is nonsense. It needed help to complete.

If you want to look back go to the health App on the iphone. I went into Steps and then right to the bottom

to show all data - When you view one of the many samples in a day it'll show what device and OS version captured the data. This way I could see at 2am I apparently took 16 steps (Toilet?) on Software version 11.3.1 and at 9:55am it was another sample of 312 steps taken on Software version 11.5 so it did the update at some stage of the morning (I might have forced it while doing its morning charge).

So to summarise - Anyone who says "Oh just wait a few days, it'll resolve itself" doesn't know what they are talking about. 10 days on modern hardware and it was still running like garbage.

It has been 2-3 weeks since the last update for iWatch and iPhones. My Ultra (2 years old) is on day 3. I have 63 hours of use, with 24% battery remaining. So, I could easily go another 12+ hours. I have had 2 workouts, plus other activities. I do keep the watch on low power. I wear it 24hours a day so, I love not having to charge so often. In the past I have experienced less than 24 hours of use. Crazy!!!

Yea same here! I have the AWU1 and the battery is bipolar, I can get two days for awhile and than the next 6 months I barely get a day and I have been using my watch minimal nowadays.. I still track sleep and listen to media like podcast(Apple podcast) and Apple Music and it runs down like normal but if I don’t mess with my watch and just have it on my wrist it’s crazy how the battery just rundown like that and I’ve even unpaired and re paired with iPhone and contacted Apple and of course they say my battery is functioning normally after a diagnostic test through the privacy section on iPhone.. It’s like I can clearly see there’s an issue here but of course Apple and their infinite wisdom lol. Sorry for the rant 🤪🕺

Coming back to this I had similar issues with the update to 26. Reading that maintenance is done while charging I gave it quite a few nights on the charger for 9 hours overnight rather than wearing to bed and my battery life since 26 is bad. Do a couple of tracked walks and it'll be too low to wear overnight where previously I wore it all day, did at least one tracked exercise and wore it to bed and it'd be around 20% when I woke and I'd charge it quickly.

After many many nights charging overnight I started trying to use it as I did and again its struggling to get through the night without going dead flat in the early hours so last night I again unpaired and repaired so we'll see if like 11.5 that fixes it or whether 26 has killed battery life. Its a not very old Series 9 and it shouldn't be unusable for sleep tracking already.

Sometimes when I take my watch from the charger I notice that after about 20 minutes wear. The battery is draining from 100% to 94%!!!

In just 20 minutes!

The rest of the day is fine. But in the afternoon suddenly my watch is draining realy fast with the result that, when i go to bed, the wacth is almost empty. Maybe 14%!!

Sometimes less and sometimes more.

Realy crazy.....!!

I still have the same problem.

It's frustrating.

But it becomes more frustrating....

My 11 year old son found my Apple Watch "zero". About 10 years old that watch.

He asked if he could use it.

I thought that that watch wasn't able to work. But the opposite is true.

After installing the watch for him he could wear the watch a full day and still had 32% battery percentage left!!!

And my watch just 8%!!!

How is that possible you think!

Every day it has more battery left compared to my watch (6).

Maybe I have to consider that old watch again of by another brand....
