Are older Magic Keyboards compatible with Mac Mini M4

Hello!

I’m new to the MacOS world and I just bought a Mac Mini M4 (16GB RAM, 512GB).

I’m currently using a Windows keyboard with the mini, but I want to buy an Apple keyboard.

I want to buy a Bluetooth capable keyboard. I found some older used magic keyboards online (Marketplace) selling for $20 - $25. Questions:

1) Are all OLDER magic keyboards Bluetooth capable?

2) Will any old Apple Magic Keyboard work with my Mac Mini M4?

Welcome to the world of Apple! Glad you could join us.

There are a number of Apple wireless keyboards dating back to 2007. The earliest ones were called: Apple Wireless Keyboards, and were replaced by the Apple Magic Keyboard series. Most of these are either not compatible (the earlier Apple Wireless Keyboard series), or not fully compatible (first two generations of the Apple Magic Keyboards) with your new M4 Mac mini.

Basically only the very newest Magic Keyboard model will be fully compatible. This would be the A2449 model, which is designed to work with the M-series Macs.

2) Will any old Apple Magic Keyboard work with my Mac Mini M4?

Can't really answer that since you didn't provide us with which exact one you have ... but, if it isn't the very latest, it may not be fully functional.
