Apple Watch wrist detection not working

Started when I updated my workout app to include heart rate zone but also wrist detection not working, when wrist detection is disabled it appears to be okay. So I’m unable to use the Auto Unlock with my iPhone

Are you using a 3rd party workout app? If yes, did you contact the developer about any known issues?


Did you try to force restart by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and the Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?


If this does not work, unpairing the watch would be the next step:

Gosh sorry, yes it was working previously before I upgraded the workout app to include the heart rate zone feature rebooted to reflect the upgrade, then it worked one time with no pause while working out. The second time I used the workout app is when the issue with pauses started. Haven’t been able to prevent it from pausing except by disabling the wrist detection feature.
