How do I fix intermittent static during calls and videos on iPhone 15 Pro Max?

Hello,

i have a iphone 15 pro max. I dropped my phone back in February and shattered the back glass, which I had replaced about a week after. No issues up until about 2-3 weeks ago (which I don’t believe is related to the drop & repair). When I make a call 90% of the time if I put the person on speaker, they hear static. If I take the call off speaker, no static. When on speaker the static is intermittent, but occasionally it’s continuously. I’ve also noticed when I take a video the static isn’t on every video, but it is on a majority of them. On the videos you can’t really hear the sound over the static (some videos you can). I’m not really sure if I just have some defective parts or what. I have a tempered glass screen protector & a thin silicone case. Not really sure what to do.

There are several potential reasons for distorted voice calls on an iPhone. Here are some common factors that can contribute to this issue:

  1. A weak or unstable cellular network signal can result in voice call distortion. If the signal strength is low, the audio quality may suffer, leading to distortion, dropouts, or static during calls.
  2. High network traffic or congestion can affect voice call quality. When there are too many users trying to access the network simultaneously, it can result in degraded call quality or distortion.
  3. It's recommended to keep your iPhone's software up to date and regularly check for app updates.
  4. If you are using a Bluetooth headset or speakerphone during calls, interference or compatibility issues can lead to distorted audio. Try disconnecting any connected Bluetooth devices and check if the voice quality improves.
  5. Voice call distortion can also be attributed to problems on the network provider's end. Temporary network outages, infrastructure issues, or maintenance work can affect call quality in specific areas or during certain times.

If you're experiencing persistent voice call distortion on your iPhone, it's recommended to troubleshoot the problem by following these steps:

  1. Check your network signal strength and switch to a different location if possible to see if the issue persists.
  2. Restart your iPhone to refresh the software and temporary settings.
  3. Disable any Bluetooth devices connected to your iPhone during calls and check if the distortion improves.
  4. Verify that your iPhone's software is up to date and install any available updates.
  5. Contact your network provider to inquire about any known issues in your area.
  6. If the problem persists, consider contacting or visiting an Apple authorized service center to diagnose and address any hardware-related problems.

What Call? On an iPhone, you can make and receive various types of calls. Here are the different types:

  1. These are standard voice calls made over the cellular network. They utilize your carrier's voice network to connect you with other phone numbers. Allow phone calls on your iPad, iPod touch, and Mac
  2. FaceTime Audio allows you to make voice calls over Wi-Fi or cellular data using your internet connection. It provides higher audio quality compared to traditional cellular calls.
  3. FaceTime Video enables you to have video calls with other FaceTime users. It uses the front or rear camera on your iPhone to transmit live video during the call. Use FaceTime with your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
  4. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls use internet connectivity to make phone calls. Apps like Skype, WhatsApp, Viber, and Google Hangouts utilize this technology, allowing you to make voice and video calls over the Internet.
  5. Some carriers support Wi-Fi calling, which allows you to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi network instead of relying solely on cellular coverage. This can be useful in areas with weak cellular reception. Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling - Apple Support (IN)
  6. The App Store offers numerous calling apps that utilize different technologies. These apps can provide additional features and options for making calls, such as international calling, call recording, and more.

It's important to note that the availability of certain call types may depend on your iPhone model, iOS version, and carrier.
