Why does my iPhone 16 Pro switch from my default eSIM to the physical SIM when making calls?

I have an IPhone 16 Pro that has a physical sim and an eSIM. I have it set up that the default line is the eSIM. When making calls the phone will sometimes pick the physical sim and call off that number. Any ideas of how to fix?

If your iPhone 16 Pro is unexpectedly switching between SIMs, it's likely due to a setting or configuration issue. You can resolve this by checking your Dual SIM settings, ensuring "Allow Cellular Data Switching" is turned off, and potentially updating your iOS.

Check Dual SIM Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data.
  • Tap on Cellular Data or Mobile Data.
  • Ensure Allow Cellular Data Switching is turned OFF.

Change Cellular Data Line:

  • If you want a specific SIM to be the default for data, go to Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data.
  • Tap on the SIM card you want to use for cellular data.
  • Set the desired SIM as the primary line for cellular data

Restart Your iPhone:

  • A simple restart can sometimes resolve minor software glitches that might be causing this behavior.
