Hide my email has suddenly stopped forwarding emails

Hide my email has suddenly stopped forwarding emails. After googling I found that turning off private relay allowed the emails to come through into my iPhone but not my Mac. I’m wondering what the connection between private relay and hide my email is and why it has suddenly stopped working
