Messages not working for all types of text messages after last update

I updated the IOS on my phone to 18.5 about a week ago, then starting yesterday I noticed that I was not receiving any two-factor SMS messages across any of my devices, iPhone, iPad, MacBook. I am receiving messages from other iPhones no problem, and I am receiving some types of security alert messages - not sure how they are sent, - but I can't log into my bank, work email, or other sites with two-factor because when I hit the send code button - nothing is received on my end.

I have tried, turning everything off and on, deleting and reentering my mobile phone number, logging into and out of Messages and iCloud, turning on and off everything in settings across the three devices.

Any suggestions?

They say everything working on their end, no service disruptions, and since the issue started after an OS update it's an apple problem. And I think they are right.

Nothing to do with the ios update or Apple, but their product (imessage) is working as stated by you.

You pay your phone carrier a monthly fee to use their service SMS/MMS, short term code is sent via SMS.

IF you want your issue fix, escalate the issue with your phone carrier.

Yes, I understand the point you are making, and that's why I said 'ping-pong' - while I could spend the next six hours on hold between Apple and Verizon as they tell me the other party is responsible - I posted here to see if any users has suggested fixes or work arounds.


Thankfully another forum someone did just that.

Following their advice I toggled my phone off-and-on repeatedly, pausing for ten seconds between modes - on the sixth time, the backlog of 2-factor messages flooded in.

SMS is your phone carrier feature contact yours to resolve the issue.
