I need a way to get my iPad to recognize a Morse code (CW) key. It’s an on/off switch and there are numerous programs that teach Morse code. That’s what I’m trying to do.

Your chosen Apps appear to use an on-screen (virtual) key for input - and are not designed to use a traditional morse key for input.
As such, even if you are able to interface your morse key via a USB hardware interface to your iPad, your chosen Apps will seemingly not accept input from an external key.
Yes. These “keys” are meant to be plugged into a radio or practice device that recognizes closed circuit short/long press. Somewhere out there, someone has made a Bluetooth CW key that might work, but it’s such a niche thing there’s little inducement to produce them en-masse. I fear trying to interface a mechanical device with an iPad is so out of the ordinary no one wants to do it. Arcade style interfaces would work, too, but they require programming.

Have you checked with the manufacturer of the keys about iPad connectivity?
You'll likely need to identify a suitable Morse tutorial App within the App store. When (if) you find an App that meets your need, it will likely provide specific guidance for connecting suitable hardware/morse-key.
Thanks for your reply! Yes. There are numerous apps. I’m using Morse Mania. The other really good one is Morse-It. They both make provision for a CW key.
My problem is getting the iPad to recognize, via USB serial interface, the key/keys that I have.

Thank you, again. Both apps have an option for hardware CW key. Although they are designed to use on-screen controls. There is an option in both apps in the settings section to choose an external key. I suspected the choice might be for what the on-screen display looks like, but hardware selection is possible. Neither app finds my hardware, though.
Yes. There’s in-app guidance that suggests a keyboard would work, then the ability to re-map the on-short (dit), on-long (dah) to keys can happen.
I think this might be a lost cause. There are arcade style USB interfaces that might work, but it’s beyond my ken to figure that out.

Do you see any in-App guidance? Perhaps the Apps expect input from a standard USB keyboard - as opposed to an actual morse-key?
