AirPod Pro 1st Gen - Right replacement won't sync up and pair simultaneously

Hi.

My son had a pair of AirPod Pros, first gen. One day this past March, the mesh lining in the right AirPod fell out. Without the mesh, he could use one of the tips to seal the AirPod in his ear. When we contacted support, the service advisor said that a replacement AirPod would fix everything. I ordered it. It was ~$100.

The right replacement arrived, and we have done everything to have it pair at the same time with the original AirPod. But to no avail. They pair separately. Only one will work at a time.

We have tried everything. We finally sat on the phone with support advisors for hours. We had to truobleshoot with them by Apple's rules. The light would trun amber, but it would never turn white. It wouldn't work. We've tried to reset them so many times. It won't work.

They gave us a box to send to a repair center. The repair center never even updated the online log. The link that would monitor their progress? Never upadted past "we've received your device." They then sent them back and said they couldn't find serial numbers. That's untrue: the serial numbers were given to the service reps during the hours on the phone.

I honestly just want my money back, yet Apple says that they can't refund the $100 I paid for the AirPod. The AirPod is defective. They also wanted me to buy another case for $89...the case is not the problem. It just feels like I can't get anyone to help me or solve this issue with Apple Support.

Does anyone have any feedback or guidance on what to do? Any troubleshooting help or help with support? I

Have you set them up as replacement? There are certain steps you have to follow

Set up your replacement AirPods 1, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, or a replacement charging case

  1. Put both AirPods in your charging case.
  2. Connect the case to power, close the lid and wait 20 minutes.
  3. Open the lid, then do one of the following:
    • If the status light flashes white, go to step 5.
    • If the status light doesn't flash white, continue to the next step.
  1. With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for 15 seconds until the status light flashes amber, then white. If the status light still doesn't flash white, learn what to do
  2. With the status light flashing white, close the lid of your charging case.
  3. Before tapping Connect on the setup animation that appears on screen, go to Settings > Bluetooth, then do the following:
    • If your AirPods appear in Settings > Bluetooth, tap the More Info button next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm. Continue to the next step.
    • If your AirPods don't appear there, continue to the next step.
  1. Open the lid, then go to the Home Screen on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. In the setup animation, tap Connect, then tap Done. AirPods are ready for use.

Hi. I’ve tried many times to set them up as a replacement and nothing has worked now I have seen multiple threads on the Apple communities basically saying that a lot of people going back as far as 2019 have had the same issue. Apple tells them that a replacement AirPod is the answer And it will never work and then all of a sudden they get this mysterious green flashing light. I tried to send them back to the service center and when I got them in the mail, they were not only not fixed, but they had been flashing green. They have never flashed green. It was only after I sent them to Apple to get them fixed and paired that this happened
