Why does Screen Time show individual websites under Safari instead of just listing Safari?

Have been noticing some very odd things on my screen time report. Instead of just listing “safari” it is showing all the different websites I went on (some of them I did not even visit) and there is this “user authentication” on my screen time as well..

I only have one device hooked up to my iCloud account.

Screen Time's detailed breakdown of websites within Safari, rather than just a general "Safari" total, offers granular insight into your browsing habits. This isn't just about how long you're in the browser; it's about what you're doing there.

Why the Website Breakdown Matters

Apple designed Screen Time to provide:

  • Precise visibility: See exactly where your time goes online.
  • Targeted limits: Set specific app and content limits for individual websites.
  • Behavior tracking: Identify and manage potentially addictive or time-wasting online activities, like endless social media scrolling.

So, instead of a vague "Safari - 3 hours," you might see:

  • reddit.com – 1h 30m
  • youtube.com – 45m
  • wikipedia.org – 45m

This clarity allows you to make informed decisions, like saying, "I should probably cut back on Reddit, but Wikipedia is fine."
