How can I recover Apple ID and code from deceased family member’s iPhone?

Hey, I have question about Apple ID and code from phone. The problem is that my cousin dead. And we need to get access to his phone, when trying to restore access to the account they say that they will verify my identity as the owner of the phone. But the problem is that the owner died and access is needed. Is it possible to somehow restore access or get the password without deleting data from the phone itself?

((Why is his cousin doing this? Because I'm the eldest in the family and I just understand this a little, which is why I was asked to do this))

Sorry about the passing of your cousin. There is a specific process you have to follow in order to get access to the phone. It will require among other things, a death certificate and something from your cousins estate lawyer which grants ownership rights to whomever the estate chooses to own the phone.

A little more info to go with the above.

That process can give you access to his Apple account. It does not provide a way to bypass the Lock Screen passcode on the phone. There is no way to do that without erasing the phone entirely.

Hopefully, he made regular backups that you can restore the data from.
