It's been a while since iOS 18.5 came out and I've noticed a change in my battery life, it's definitely a lot shorter than previous versions. I've also noticed that when you change your icons to a certain color, the ones that sit in folders on the screen don't change and become pure black(iPhone and iPad). Are you having any similar issues with iOS 18.5?

I just tried tinting my app icons and it does change the apps in the folder too. They may appear as pure back but when you open the folder they will be tinted.
Regarding the battery drain, how long ago did you update your iPhone? It may still be indexing which can cause the iPhone to work harder and drain more battery.

Can you go to Settings > Battery > And share a screenshot of your battery usage and activity pages and see which apps are taking up the most battery?

Battery Health of 86% is starting to get low, and it would explain some of the issues you describe. You do not indicate what model of iPhone you have and how long you have had it. When the Battery Health gets to 80%, Apple will replace the battery. If the device is less than one year old at that point, it could be replaced under warranty, otherwise there will be a charge.
I am in the same boat. The phone was at 100% (now at 99%) and the phone gets uncomfortably warm.... it has been doing this for several weeks so any "background apps also updating" garbage we are being told is a lie. My phone can sometimes be at 20% in just a few hours vs the entire day it would last before this update.
I have the exact same problem. Battery health is at 86% but in the past weeks (not sure if it is due to iOS 18.5), I notice that battery depletes super quick (2-3 charges a day) and also the charging speed is much slower now even when plugged in. Also, charging seems to be making the phone much warmer, causing charging to stop due to high temperatures even in a cool room when this never happened before.
Youtube is at top but it can be any app because apparently the 1.6 hours of my screen being on was enough to drain 46% of the battery life.
Interesting the same thing will happen while reading emails.

My phone has 100% battery life, is less than a few weeks old. Installing iOS 18.5 (22F76) has killed my battery. The phone even runs hot now where it's uncomfortable to hold.
