If the serial number is shown as invalid after a couple of days from original purchase, confirm the digits (you can copy the serial number from Settings > General > About by tapping on it, then paste it), contact Apple Support.

Apple serial numbers have no documented format in the last few years. To V or not to V, there is no significance.

The model number has the initial letter for some basic purchase details, including M, F, and N. But none of that is relevant to a serial number not shown as valid.
