Why does my iPad Air 4th gen keep shutting down by itself?

So my iPad is having a strange problem. While I was using it, the battery showed 40%, but it suddenly shut down. I managed to turn it back on by holding the Home button and when it turned on, it showed 10% battery. Then it shut down again and powered back on by itself, now showing 35%.

I previously asked ChatGPT and it suggested I try a force shutdown. I did this by pressing Volume Up, then Volume Down and then holding the Home button. It seemed to work temporarily but the same problem happened again the next day and keeps happening now. I’ve tried forcing shut down multiple times but it doesn’t seem to fix the issue permanently.

Is there a fix or should I take it in for a battery replacement? Also my Ipad is Ipad air 4th gen

As described, your iPad battery may have a fault, or may be reaching the end of its usable life. If the battery has failed or is failing, the iPad may unexpectedly turn-off - or may not successfully boot to a running state even when connected to its Power Adapter.

Are you able to use the iPad while remaining connected to your Power Adapter? If yes, while monitoring the indicated battery state, disconnect the Power Adapter; if the indicated battery state suddenly falls, or the iPad shuts-off, this test demonstrates the iPad battery having reached the end of its usable life:
