My Apple Pro keyboard's ten-key pad is not working

What happened to my ten-key pad? Suddenly, it does not work! The numeric keys atop the keyboard still work, but the ten-key pad does nothing! Does anyone have any idea what I've done to make my ten-key pad mad at me? Did I unknowingly select the wrong function in System Settings? The keys function fine, but no other numeric keys on the ten-key pad work. I use a Mac Mini 2020 running MacOS 14.6.1, Sonoma. My keyboard is an Apple Pro Keyboard KY***4VA.

Since you're using an Apple Pro keyboard with your Mac, the most likely culprit is that Mouse Keys might have been enabled. When Mouse Keys is on, macOS repurposes part of the numeric keypad to control the pointer, which disables the number functionality.

To double-check:

1. Go to System Settings > Accessibility

2. Scroll down and select Pointer Control (under "Motor").

3. Click on Mouse Keys.

4. Make sure the "Enable Mouse Keys" toggle is off.
