When wireless charging pads first began appearing in cars, there were troubles with certain phones charging on the pads. One especially difficult feature was that the pads and the charging circuit on the phone would not match up for MagSafe devices. That was a responsibility of the manufacturer to repair, and they did. Another issue is a case. Some cases are too thick and can cause a problem if the magnet area of the pad was weak. Lastly, the camera bump on the iPhone can lift the phone off the pad slightly and in the wrong place making it incapable of charging.

Try removing the case and moving the phone around a bit on the pad. Sometimes users have reported that they need to unlock the phone before they place it on the charging pad before it will charge. In other words, there are a lot of different reasons why they won't charge and ways to try and troubleshoot it. Good luck.

Charge another phone on the pad. If it works that means that there's something wrong with the phone and you should take it in to the genius bar. If the other phone doesn't charge then there's something wrong with the car and you should talk to Volvo.

Have you tried to charge another device on the pad of your car to see if it is because of your car ?
