How do I change the swipe action for Gmail in the iPhone Mail app to delete instead of archive?

since getting my new iPhone 16, the gmail account in mail on my phone, when I slide it sideways it 'archives' not trash, the message. On my other (yahoo, aol) mail accounts it trashes them when I slide the screen. I dont want to archive any. I remember that there was a way to change this years ago, but now I'm having a time trying to remember where this could be. Was it on my Mac, or was there settings someplace else that I am missing.? thanks.
