Apple Maps showing low-quality or missing 3D buildings on CarPlay

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with Apple Maps on CarPlay where the 3D view doesn’t load buildings properly — they either appear blocky, low quality, or sometimes don’t show up at all. The 2D map view, however, looks perfectly fine and detailed.

Details:

• iPhone model: iPhone 15 pro max
• iOS version: 18.5
• CarPlay connection: tested both wired and wireless, same issue on both
• Strong cellular connection (5G/LTE) during testing
• 3D view is enabled in Maps settings
• Issue only happens on CarPlay — the iPhone’s Apple Maps 3D rendering looks normal

Is this a known limitation or bug with CarPlay? Has anyone else experienced 3D buildings not loading or rendering correctly on CarPlay?
