best external 27 inch external monitor for M4 iMac 24 inch.

Would like to buy a 27 inch external monitor for my new M4 24 inch iMac with four thunderbolt 4 ports. I am not a gamer so refresh rate is not a problem. LG ia a possibility or what monitor is most popular. I just need one external monitor so the resolution should be the same as my M4. Price should be around $400.00 max.

Do I need a special cable or adapter such as a display port adapter.

Thank You

Since you're not gaming and just want something to match the Retina-like clarity of the iMac display, your priorities will be resolution, color accuracy, and physical design. The iMac has a 4.5K Retina display (4480×2520), so while no 27" monitor in your price range will match that exactly, a 2560×1440 (QHD) or 4K UHD (3840×2160) monitor should still look very good next to it.

Some choices could be:

  • LG 27UN850-W
  • LG 27UP600-W
  • Dell S2722QC

For connectivity:

As your Mac has four Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports. You do not need an adapter if the monitor supports USB-C or DisplayPort over USB-C. If the monitor only supports HDMI or regular DisplayPort, then you’ll need a USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort cable.
