Why does pressing F12 display a command instead of increasing volume on my Mac?

When F12 is pressed, volume does not go up; instead, some command appears. How do you think I could fix it?

By default, the top row of keys on your Apple keyboard control different functions on your Mac. If the functionality has changed for some reason, maybe an installed app has changed something, you can return to default settings by following Apple's guidance found here:
