Phone call recording file did not properly save in Notes

I recently recorder a long phone call. About 10 minutes into the interview, I heard the call recording end. I turned it back on mid-call (the audio notification sounded) and finished the conversation.

When I looked in the Notes app afterward, I found a single note entry with both recordings listed. However, only the first 10-minute recording was saved and could be accessed via the ‘play’ button. The second entry had its own container inside the note, but no file in it.

I tried syncing my phone to my computer and searching the back end — Library/Group Container/Notes/Media library — I found the first 10-minute file but not the second. When I accessed the iCloud Notes app from my computer, the empty container indicated an M4A file. When I copied that container to the desktop, it was listed as a .textclipping, 2,530 bytes, and was blank.

This was a really important interview. I’m desperate to find that recording.

The missing recording is labeled “microgrids” below.
