I can't deploy FileVault on my macOS using Intune.

Hello,

I'm trying to deploy FileVault on my macOS device using Intune. It's an iMac running macOS version 15.5. I used the Endpoint Security section in Intune to configure the deployment.

However, every time I start the iMac, I keep getting the same FileVault prompt asking if I want to enable it now. When I click to enable, nothing happens.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm not sure if I'm in the right place to ask but has anyone experienced this before or knows how to fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Intune is a tool used for externally managing computers and devices. So you have a managed device (managed by your employer perhaps), and the use of FileVault is constrained by the Device Management settings as determined by your employer or the device owner.

Most companies using Intune require use of FileVault, but in other instances it might be precluded. Or, if your device is managed through Intune, you may have something you installed that prevents FileVault from operating.

The way to address this is to consult with your IT Department. Apple Discussions is a user forum but no one here has insight into how Intune has been configured for your Mac or why it might be conflicting with FileVault in your situation. For instance, one use of Intune is to verify that your device is permitted on the network. Depending on how that verification is performed over the air, FileVault might interfere with it, so FileVault might be disabled. Or your company might prefer that some other form of encryption be utilized than FileVault. Consult your IT Department.
