How can I fix green line issue on my MacBook Pro screen?

To determine whether this is a mainboard issue or a display-module issue, take a screen shot and examine it where you can scroll around the screenshot. If the artifact is present in the saved screenshot, this is likely a serious mainboard issue, otherwise likely a display-module issue.
Another way to check is to connect an external display or TV set, and see if that display is free of that defect. If the external is free of defect, this can also an effective workaround (although admittedly not portable).
Remember that if you submit your Mac for service, you promise that you ALREADY have all the file backups you will ever need. After many repairs, you files will NOT be returned to you.
