Can't connect my AirPods to iPhone 11 Pro

I have tried hard reset, complete reimage but not able

to connect airpod to phone. when I open the case I can see the airpod

but then a connection failed when trying to connect. tried a different

set of airpod with same result.

any suggestions on how to fix?
