Open WhatsApp on your phone. Tap the settings gear at the bottom right hand on that screen. Go to Notifications and make sure you've set up notifications and tones for all the things you want to be notified for. Then open the Settings App on your iPhone > Notifications > WhatsApp and make sure you've turned on notifications there.
