Printer sharing issues with authentication and in-use errors

Hello All,

I am having printer sharing problems. Here is our setup:

I am able to print just fine, but whenever one of my coworkers try to print we either get a hold for authentication error which stays on even after we enter the username and password or it says the printer is in use when it isn't.

When they connect to the network they are able to access the lacie hard drives and add the printer but keep getting errors on the print queue as stated above.

I have tried opening terminal and entering

sudo lpadmin -p [OUR PRINTER NAME GO HERE] -o auth-info-required=username,password

and then we at least started getting a prompt to enter the credentials when we pushed the reload button in the printer queue but the problem just repeated itself.

We used to be able to access the printer through wifi but the printer was often unable to find the network so thats when we switched to a wired solution and that is when these problems started. Sorry for the long explanation I tried to be thorough. If anyone has any ideas to help it would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Austin Hart

Hmm, that is the preferred setup so that all computers, tablets and phones can easily access the printer.

How far is the Epson Printer from the Wi-Fi router..?

Are there any solid walls or other electrical device’s in between the router and printer..?

If you can not move router or printer closer together to get a better Wi-Fi signal. Then perhaps you need a Wi-Fi extender or an upgrade to a mesh router.
