20W USB C charger for the new MagSafe charger

The new MagSafe charger supports 25W charging when using a 30W or higher USB C charger.

I currently have a 20W USB C charger. Will my phone charge with 20W or 15W when using the new MagSafe charger?

The device is 16 Pro Max.

Bottom Line?

  • With your current 20 W charger → MagSafe delivers up to 15 W wireless.
  • Upgrade to a 30 W (or higher) charger → unlock the full 25 W wireless charging speed for your iPhone 16 Pro Max.

So yes, your phone will charge with your 20 W brick, but only at 15 W. To get the full 25 W benefit, Apple recommends using a 30 W or greater USB‑C adapter with the new MagSafe puck.
