I’m so disappointed! I bought myself a pair of AirPods for my birthday but when I’m using my Weed whacker (I work outdoors a lot and wanted music while I was working) they continually and uncomfortably zap my ears. It’s not static electricity buildup because it happens immediately. Does this happen to anybody else? I think I’m going to have to take them back because that’s ridiculous!

Precisely what do you mean by ‘zap’?
Is the weed wicker battery operated or gasoline operated? If battery the AirPods may be getting electrical noise from the device. DC motors can be notorious for that.
If gasoline powered the noise level may be too high and causing the AirPod’s noise cancelling feature to glitch.
In either event I would suspect that any wireless earbuds may react the same way. You could try wearing standard construction earmuffs over the AirPods to see if it makes a difference.

i have the exact same issue. i had airpod pros 1st gen and this did not happen. now i have tried and returned 3 different pairs of airpod pros 2nd gen and this has happened with each of them (while using battery powered weed whacker). very disappointed in this design flaw for such an expensive product.
Mine are 4th gen. For as much money as they are this is crazy! I’ve played with the noise canceling feature and the only way it doesn’t zap/bump my ear drum is if I turn the noise canceling all the way off.
It feels like there’s an electrical current zapping my ear. When I stop weed whacking it doesn’t happen. It’s a battery powered Weedwhacker. I’ll have to try and put the earmuffs on and see what that does. Thanks!
