Bluetooth accessories not playing audio although paired with my iPhone 14

I have tried every step, more than a few times… charged everything more than once. Let it sit to do nothing (as in gave up and turned phone off and back on the next morning) so whatever BT might need to do may fix itself with the restarting of my iPhone 14. I know, or I think, everything is up to date and I have had the cheaper earbuds not long, but they worked just fine until the day before yesterday. I know all the steps and nothing is a remedy. Is there something bugged or what can I do? I rely on my earbuds for comfort and keeping my own overstimulation from outside sounds at a minimal so this is truly upsetting. Help!

Have you paired them with something else? I have had this problem for a long time when my Sony headphones are paired to my Apple TV and I try to pair them with my iPad instead. They show up as connected on the iPad but no sound is playing. Same thing happens the other way around; if they are connected to the iPad and playing music I can seemingly connect them to the Apple TV (Status connected) but I can't use them. It seems that many have reported problems like these for years, but Apple is busy with core functionality like memojis and stickers.
