Image Capture Still Crashing after years and years

I take a lot of photos and videos with my iPhone. Dating back to the iPhone 3g I have been using iPhones exclusively. I used to use iPhoto to transfer and synchronize my phone. It worked fine until the database got too large then it crashed, corrupted and I lost nearly everything.

I started using Image Capture. It worked for a few years. I liked the fact it would download and remove the content off my phone after it copied over. The past several years.... it just is not reliable. Multiple searches for solutions proved pointless as Apple seems to have abandoned any form of backup method for their phones like they abandoned all hope for innovation and design.

But enough snark... I need a reliable solution for transferring content off my phone.

No

  • replace your cable
  • close out the app
  • disconnect your phone and try again

"Solutions". I paid a premium for my Apple hardware I expect at least functional tools.

Can anybody recommend an app for backing up and hopefully clearing out the data on my phone? (Not overwriting anything on my storage choice that I move it to?

iCloud is the best option to store Photos and Videos.

here are three major advantages of having iCloud Storage

  1. iCloud syncs your iPhone data and keeps backup safely for future use if your iPhone is damaged or lost. The data is safe on iCloud
  2. You can save space on your iPhone by keeping low-resolution photos on your iPhone and keep the originals on iCloud. Whenever you open a photo on your iPhone it will fetch the original photo from iCloud and display it to you, provided you have internet. --> Manage your photo and video storage - Apple Support
  3. You get more space on iCloud Drive and keep any file on it safely, Also you can view and delete them from any device.

iCloud Drive is part of iCloud Storage. What you store in iCloud Drive counts against your storage limit.

See the pic below. These are things which you can view. There are many things that you can't view such as messages, backup, message attachments etc..

You may get better and prompt responses if you may kindly provide the iPhone Model that you have and the iOS version if it is known to you and re-post.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.
