my appstore wont let me update apps and tells me i need to verify my apple id. i have logged onto my apple account and everything is verified so i am unsure how to fix this issue

Are you sure it is not asking you to verify your payment method, not your Apple ID?
If your current payment method has been deemed invalid due to a previous purchase that was unable to be processed due to lack of funds, you will need to add a different one. You can tell if a previous purchase was not able to be processed when the amount shown in your Purchase History is in red or shows as Pending. These will need to be paid before you can continue to use the App Store for any purpose.
