iPhone 15 overheating during FaceTime and charging

I’ve had my iPhone for over a year, most of the community questions I see about it they only have the issue for the first two weeks of getting the phone. My phone constantly overheats over the littlest things and it’s only getting worse. A simple FaceTime will have my phone almost ready to blow up. And now charging has become an issue, too. I put it on the charger and the temperature skyrockets. God forbid I FaceTime and charge at the same time and now it’s almost melting in my hand. Any normal thing I do on my phone causes it to heat up insanely and the only way to bring it down is to unplug it, turn it off, close all apps, and put a bag of ice on top of it. What on earth do I even do about this? I’m not the only one with this problem with the 15 either as I have family and friends with the same phone who experience the same thing. It’s not exactly like I can drop another thousand on a phone either.

It’s not supposed to be doing that, especially a year in. While a little warmth during charging or video calls is normal, what you’re describing isn’t.

Sounds like it could be a software issue, something’s going wrong with a background process, or a hardware fault.

Best move would be to back up everything, then take it into an Apple Store. You could reach out to Apple Support, though they will likely point you to going to the Apple Store.

Do you happen to have Apple Care?
