How to revert Globe key behavior and disable modifier key overlay in macOS Sequoia 15?

After updating to macOS Sequoia 15, there are some new keyboard features that I don't like. Before the update, pressing the Globe key once would switch the input source. However, now a single press of the Globe key activates a mode where pressing certain keys triggers different functions—for example, pressing ‘E’ opens the emoji keyboard, and pressing ‘Q’ switches windows. I don’t like this behavior and want to revert to the previous functionality, where a single Globe key press simply changed the input source.

There’s also another new feature I find very distracting: whenever I press modifier keys like Shift, Globe, Control, Option, or Command, a visual tracker of my keypresses appears in the top-right corner of the screen, along with an annoying sound. I would really like to disable this feature.

updating to 15.5 from what macOS exactly...

is this US only or different keyboard. Use the Help menu in your >SYstem Settings if in doubt

I have no globe key—I do see On Apple keyboards, the Fn key (also sometimes labeled with a globe symbol) acts as a modifier for the function keys (F1, F2, etc.) at the top of the keyboard.

see if there is anything here:

How to use the function keys on your Mac

Change Input Sources settings on Mac - Apple Support

Write in another language on Mac - Apple Support

see to turn off

Use the Keyboard Viewer on Mac

verify Full Keyboard Access did not get turned on

>System Settings>Accessibility >Keyboard>Full Keyboard Access>OFF

if you have more than one language
