Monitor recommendations for MacBook Pro M1 with Ventura 13.3

Have a Macbook pro 13 inch with M1 chip with Ventura 13.3, 2020 and am seeking a 25, or 27 inch monitor. What is suggested?

Fior basic color accuracy, look for an IPS panel and 100% or near-100% coverage of sRGB. If there is no sRGB specification, this is often a Bad Sign.

You can also find monitors with 100% or near-100% coverage of wide gamuts: DCI-P3 and/or Adobe RGB. The former is from the motion picture and 4K TV world. The latter is from the print publishing world.

Some monitors have 10-bit-per-channel color, which can give you more fine subdivisions within the range of colors the monitor can handle. A few monitors have the ability to store calibration profiles within the monitor itself (hardware calibration(. If you’re looking for high-end color accuracy features to support a professional work flow, you can get deep into the rabbit hole and may want to read up on things in a photography book or on a photography-oriented forum.

Consumer Reports magazine recommends the ASUS ProArt PA248QV, a 24-in diagonal display, as a good value for a general purpose display. NB>> They are NOT Photo Editing on it!

It features only 8 bits/color, but claims 100 percent RGB coverage. 1920 by 1200 display size is at the Low end of what is possible, but so is the price of under US$200.

There are a few other 27” 5K (5120x2880) pixel displays, from LG, Samsung, BenQ, Asus, and ViewSonic. I’m not sure if the Asus one is compatible with your Mac, as ir expects to receive 5K input without the aid of Thunderbolt.

Most 27” monitors have lower resolution: UHD 4K (3830x2160 pixels) or less. There are many more 27” 4K monitors on the market than 27” 5K ones, and the 4K ones are often much cheaper. But in terms of resolution and sharpness they are not better than the 5K ones.
