MacOS pastes text as an image.

I see a lot of these threads about people copying from one app and trying to paste to another, but getting a weird image that's a block of text in MacOS. For some reason, all of these threads are "closed" without resolution.

For anyone else dealing with MacOS's extremely poor copy/paste behavior in this and NUMEROUS other cases if pasting bizarrely unexpected stuff, this has solved it all for me:

Pure Paste

(I have nothing to do with the app, just found it)

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.5

Is there a specific application example you are referring to...?

I suspect not all apps play nice with one another, espcially if there is third party involved(?)

I have Never had the issue and Not aware of the issue.

if this is ongoing for you—you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

***wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries— connect the charging cable, this will make the wired keyboard successful Safe Boot your Mac.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

your description sounds like those people were copying from a PDF what they thought was text but it’s actually just an image of text. A PDF can be just an image of text with no actual text behind it. When you scan a document, it is just an image. To get the actual text, extracted and embedded inside the PDF you would have to use some form of optical character recognition.

I have never had any problems with cutting or pasting on any Apple operating system for over 40 years now.
