How to make the Globe key change languages instead of bringing up emojis

I have an iPods pro with the keyboard case and when I press the globe key it always brings up the emoji picker whether I have that option enabled or disabled.

I need to quickly switch the keyboard between languages and I can’t figure out how to do that since all the instructions keep telling me to press the globe key and that always brings up the emoji picker.

Edit: I accidentally chose the wrong iPad for tagging but can’t seem to change the tag. I am definitely using an iPad Pro.
