How can I set ringtones longer than 40 seconds on iPhone?

I am coming from the Android community, this is my first iPhone. I am little bit confused with the ringtone's length on iOS. Why there is a limit? It's a disappointment, I am from the EU, there is no any regulation here to push the call into voicemail after 40 sec. Probably the voicemail is an additional "money maker" option for the service providers?

I'm not sure how things work in the EU, but here in the states the length of time before a call is transferred to voicemail isn't set by the phone, that is set by the carrier, since the carrier provides voicemail, it is on their server. However, generally it is around 30 seconds. They have the ability to adjust is slightly, but not all of them will. A lot of it has to do with the length of time for a call setup. You can ask your carrier. Most carriers here in the states provide voicemail as part of your service, not as an additional cost.

There may be a limit simply because someone at Apple thought that nobody would want for a single ring to go on forever and ever – and 40 seconds seemed like a nice round cutoff point which would be high enough not to be of any issue to 99.9% of users. We don't know. If you want to know Apple's reasons, you'll need to ask them.
