  • Are you signed into iMessage?
  • Is the switch at Messages in Settings off, on, or greyed out?
  • Has iMessage completed activation?
  • Did you recently transfer your number from an Android phone?
  • Are you seeing any error messages and what do they say?
  • Is your Time Zone set correctly?

If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your iPhone - Apple Support
