All windows jumping to full screen after macOS Sequoia 15.5 update

After installing Sequoia 15.5, all my windows jump to full screen and I have manually bring them back to the size I want. It's very annoying. The user comments recommend 'trying' System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Windows > Tile. My system settings don't have a 'tile' option. Is there a setting that ensures windows are the size I want? Or can Apple remove the glitch?

I had this problem after upgrading from Ventura to Sequoia. Here's how you fix it.

  • Go into System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
  • In the Windows section, find the switch called "Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen".
  • Turn it off.

If you're in the habit of sizing your windows so that they take up almost all of the area between the menu bar and the Dock, and you go to resize one, it's all too easy to touch the menu bar. At which point this "feature" destroys your screen arrangement!
